Another familiar story.

And so it continues..

"Ok, that wraps up today's lecture," announced the HOI lecturer.

Everywhere, eyes opened. Light shone upon their retinas. It was too bright. It was as though the lecturer had cast a sleeping spell on the innocent students during the lecture and now she had relieved them of the curse. The students have woke. The awakening of the dead. Slowly, wearily, the zombies exited the premises of the HOI theatre.

It was lunchtime.
Time for the students to feed.
Seven particular students were trotting along swanston st. Majority had planned to eat at grattan st.

But three of them had planned otherwise. Shawna had always packed her food, hence it was no surprise that she wouldn't join the rest. Ronnie had brought packed food as well, simply because her roommate Mimi prepared excess pasta of which both of them cannot finish in a day. And Mimi, obviously had packed her food as well...but the author suspected she just didn't want to be with Tina. As they all know, the cold war had been declared between Mimi and Tina. It was perfectly understandable.

So, there were four left. Slowly redeeming the energy they lost, they made their way to their destination.
The psychedelic signboard, which clearly read, "Rice Bar", was getting nearer for each step they took. After encountering many familiar faces and despite all distractions, they had made it. They actually made it to rice bar. With time to spare.
Choosing a suitable table. Taking their respective seats. Running their eyes through the menu. Ordering their food of choice.
All that necessary business was taken care of.

3 other girls Jean, Pravina and Gerry sooner joined them.
Their food had arrived.
Like hungry chow-hounds, they gluttoned, without the slightest of courtesy.
Who could blame them?
The HOI lecture had drained every bit of energy they had.

You'd say, "Seems like a normal everyday school life."
I'd say, "Oh read on."

*********

Halfway through the course of their meal, Lina brought up the topic of their upcoming formal ball. It was the event of the year. Or at least for their school. Evryone was excited. Who wasn't? Its just the day after tomorrow. Lina had evrything taken care of.
For instance, she had her evening gown prepared. Accessories was settled. Hair and makeup was not a problem.
It would look like the prom-enthusiastic Lina have indeed prepared to make a perfect night out of the prom. But one problem stands in the way.
Lina stays far in the suburbs, Burwood to be exact. If the train and tram services terminates at 2am, how in the world would she make it to the after-party? 2am was far too early to end the night.

The solution was simple.
She would just have to spend the rest of the night at Tina's place.
After all, Tina stays right in the heart of the city, plus she has a spacious apartment. She wouldn't mind. Or would she?

"Tina, i sleep at your place ah? After the after-party," asked Lina politely.

"Ok, you can sleep at the couch," replied Tina.

See? Told you Tina wouldn't mind.

Then a thought striked Lina's mind.

"Eh ur parents not here right? So i can sleep in ur bed right?" pondered Lina.

"No, you can't sleep in my bed," replied Tina firmly.

"Why cannot? I mean, ur sleeping at ur parents room, so there's an extra space in ur bed.."

"No, i don't want people to sleep in my bed."

"Ok, give me one reason why cannot? I'm sure ur litle sister don't mind sharing the same bed."

"What? U think my sister don mind?! She surely say don't want."

"Ok. Then when 2 other boys sleep at ur house, u let them sleep at ur parents bed. And now u don't even let me sleep at ur own bed. I cannot see the reason why at all."

"Why do u have to complain so much? Isn't it nice of me to let u sleep at my couch?"

"Yah its nice. You treat boys like kings but u treat girls like dogs. I get to sleep at ur couch. How did i get so lucky. "

The author had to shorten the original length of the dialogue.
And so it ended like that.

That was the last straw for Lina.
She had enough of Tina's weird logic.
She still didn't get why Tina's bed was so "precious".
And so Lina resorted to grumbling with Kelly about Tina, despite the fact that Tina was seating just next to Kelly.

After a few minutes of grumbling, Kelly pondered over her shoulder to see if Tina was eavesdropping on their conversation.
To her surprise, Tina's seat was empty.
Was she abducted? No, she just left the eatery, with her drink barely touched, without telling the others.

And then it hit Lina.
"Was she angry at me because i was grumbling at her?" thought Lina.

So, in all sincerity, she called Tina, asking why she left without telling.

"Hey Tina. Why did u just leave without telling us?" asked Lina.

To which Tina replied, "Cos i like".
